Just south of La Merced Market, this little culinary gem is a real surprise in every way. With just a few tables and no visible menu, the dining experience here is inspired by the rich Mixtec region of Oaxaca. Despite his youth, chef Toño GarcÃa demonstrates culinary skill beyond his years, elevating indigenous dishes with a refined touch. His dishes, both colorful and exquisite, could easily hold their own in more luxurious settings. From the avocado croquette topped with nopales to the yellow mole with fish wrapped in santa leaves and a zesty beet salad, each bite is a journey through the flavors of Mexico and beyond. However, the star dish is undoubtedly the taco, made with tricolor corn and accompanied by tender beef tongue, grilled pineapple, and pickled red onion.
