Asian
The popularity of this Asian-style steakhouse, which was opened in 2017 by the owners of La Carnicería, shows just how well this restaurant fits into the Palermo Soho neighborhood. An ideal spot for a night out with friends or a relaxing weekend lunch, it’s bold, lively, and exuberantly decorated—the red hanging lanterns must have appeared on thousands of Instagram accounts! It has the feel of a traditional Japanese izakaya, especially if you sit at the bar directly in front of the chefs. The ingredients may be Argentine, but the flavors and techniques are Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Thai. If you had to choose one dish that sums up Niño Gordo, it would be the ever-popular Katsusando, made with brioche-style bread instead of shokupan and featuring beef steak instead of the usual pork. Sweetbreads with miso and choclo (corn) are another original creation, while the spicy fried rice is both vibrant and highly satisfying.
