The Courage to Create

In the province of Mendoza, there’s no excuse not to visit a winery to enjoy an authentic wine-tourism experience. With this in mind, Susana Balbo—renowned as Argentina’s first female wine expert and a leading authority on wine in South America—founded the family-run Susana Balbo Wines winery, located about 30 km south of Mendoza. The Osadía de Crear restaurant, which has been on the estate since 2013 and is now led by chef Flavia Amad Di Leo, aims to enhance this wine appreciation experience with modern cuisine that is exquisitely delicate and always highlights local and seasonal ingredients (pumpkin, green beans, beets, pomegranate, etc.). This is presented through two tasting menus (four or six courses), each featuring different and equally superb wine pairings from the estate. Informal brunches, picnics, and afternoon tea can also be arranged in the winery’s galleries and gardens.
